England Resource

I recently came across the Old Mersey Times website. If you have ancestors from the Liverpool/Merseyside area of England, you might want to take a look at the site. It offers transcriptions of newspaper articles dating back to the 1800s.

The transcriptions are grouped by subject with quite a variety to choose from. For subjects that contain a lot of data, for instance the births page, you will need to scroll all the way to the bottom of the page to access events in additional years. Transcriptions that don't fit a specific subject can be found on the snippets page.

If you don't feel like browsing through all the pages in the hopes of finding a specific person, you can use the search function. From the homepage, scroll down nearly to the bottom of the page. Just after the Genealogist's Lament, you will find the search box.
